What source can we stand behind?

We change how we teach but we never change what we teach! We try and give students the Why while we don’t know the why we only know the How. Each teacher had their own Why which falls apart as soon as the how and what of education becomes so powerful your inner Why get silences. And when it doesn’t match the why if others, there is conflict and it challenges how teachers interact
Let’s take common core for instance: the big shift of how teachers “changed math” was so that students could understand the why behind what they were doing. Read that again. The standards were forced onto students and they were looked to find the why.
We kept the what and forced a why onto it. And as you’ve seen, it hasn’t worked. We change the how we teach what we teach but why we teach does not impact how or what we teach. Our just cause is inconsistent at best. Realistically non existent for the world we live in and are heading into.
We need to rediscover our Why of education so that can inform our how to create a what.
