Do what you're passionate about!
Find your purpose!
More and more I have been seeing people leaving their jobs or careers, moving to different cities, trying to find their purpose.
Then you hear from others that your passion is not something you can make a living on. You can't make money off of what you love to do.
Limited and shortsighted. Because you can. But it won't be easy, or initially make enough money.
Passion vs Purpose: they are two different things. And if you're lucky, you get to live your life doing both
My passion: Fitness, health, exercise, competing
My purpose in life: Support, empower, uplift and guide others, especially youth.
I am a teacher in practice. An Athlete on the side, aspiring to be a competitive triathlete.
Both practices together fulfill my passion and purpose. But I know that there is more and I feel i can fulfill these together even further
Spending time in Utah this summer has opened doors and possibilities that I dreamed for but never saw the practicality.
Currently: I am fulfilling my passion by training for and competing in different triathlons and races. I will be competing in my first Half Ironman in April 2023. I am obsessed with the sport and the training the comes with it. I can actively work on and improve my skill, spending a lot of my free time working out. and I love it. In all honesty, if I could find a way to compete and make a full time living off of exercise and sport, I would. But for now, I am fulfilling my passion on the side of my career.
Purpose: my purpose is being fulfilled as an educator. While the school system has its disadvantages, teaching/tutoring gives me a space to fulfill my purpose. While teaching math, I am able to be a guide for my students, a support system and a person they learn to trust has their best interest in mind. Along with learning academics, I find space to have life discussions, applying the skills they learn in our classroom to the experiences they have outside. We connect to each other and find ways to support, uplift, and create a community within my classroom walls. I know though, that I have the potential to do more in this space and can create a larger impact. How, I am still working through.
But through my openness to try new things, take risks the younger, more fearful self avoided, I am creating newness, new walkways, doorways and potentials that have always been there. I had just been fearful to see and take action.
I have millions of goals and dreams. I will accomplish all that i can in this lifetime. And I strive to find balance in my passions and purpose in life.
