Zoe Chance authors “influence is your superpower” and discusses how we can frame our situations.
Monumental frames emphasize the WHY. Teachers feel this more than those they educate. This can be a game changer as we can invite educators to be a part of something so much larger than teaching the next math lesson. We can get behind a mission statement that brings all achievement levels together and empowers students to become greater than imagination.
This view may be a bit too big to bite off for many students. It may feel daunting.
Thats where manageable comes in. The HOW. We can provide manageable frames for students so it’s not as life altering as “your education determines your future” but instead, ”let’s achieve a successful debate or conversation about this history topic“.
this frame is best for helping students overcome fears, doubts, or grief. And it is the stepping stone to eventually (hopefully) have students see WHY they are here.
We can create, reinvent and redesign a system to allow for this.
We need to start by bringing the HOW and WHY to the surface. So teachers and students alike can see them, discuss, challenge and modify for the opportunity of a better future.
