Is education an industry or business?

Is education an industry or a business?

If we’re an industry other schools are our competitors. We compete. But each school is competing against each other’s outputs: how many kids are in accel programs, what’s our state and national test scores.

So much so the accelerated programs in high school have been watered down because too many kids were pushed into them and not succeeding. Accelerated is now the on grade level rigor with the Title, for statement purposes only.

If we’re an industry, competing, schools would bare far more success to indificually uncover their own why and rebuild how they teach for their students and that would create many different what’s in order to be successful and compete and potential out perform other districts.

Why do we state test? Everyone says teachers only teach to the test…

If we are business then the other school districts are a piece of the machine. That should be working together in order to create a better and brighter future for our country and our world. There is really minimal collaboration across district lines. Conversations are check in based not building better structures and systems.
