It’s hard for some of us to do.
For me, it’s because there is just so MUCH I want to do, my mind can’t wrap around fitting it all into one singular day. It seems inhuman.
So, I bent the rules of the questions and listed out the things that bring me the most joy and fulfillment. As those are the things that would be in my perfect day:
In no particular order:
A long run, 10+ miles
A long bike ride ~infinite if possible~
Private homeschool tutoring
Blog posts
Lifting weights
Swim
Hike
Be out in nature
Read
Journal
Camp
Podcasts (listening)
Cool
Philosophical conversations/life talks
Up to see the sunrise
Dance party
If you didn’t come up with your perfect day, I ask that you write down the things that fill you up and you enjoy/love/look forward to doing.
Now ask yourself: how many of those are you able to fit into each day?
How many are you currently doing on a regular basis?
I got disheartened at first thinking “ugh there is no way I can do everything I love each and every day.”
Hold on. Reframe.
How amazing that I am passionate about so many things that I can pick and choose multiple things I love to do EACH day and thereby making each day Unique and fulfilling.
I like a good schedule and structure. But to limit myself to the same routine accomplishing the same things I love would eventually dull some of the fire. I’m not talking ashes here. But some.
With this shift in mindset I have the freedom to create each day a Brand New perfect day.
It’s the good old math problem: you have 4 blue marbles 7 purple marbles and 5 red marbles, how many different combinations of groups of 6 could you make?
Limitless.
From my list alone I have infinite days to create for myself.
There is no limit to how many fulfilling things I can do each day.
But after looking over your list, If you find you’re doing Zero, start with adding One in a day.
If you’re doing 1-3, can you add in another?
The more you create time for the things you are fulfilled with, slowly, the more space is created to continue living a life centered around what you love.
Your job may restrict a lot on your list (or feel like it does at least). But you may in fact find yourself showing up a beat quicker knowing you have your bucket being filled in other areas. And this in turn my lead you to a future life you never thought possible for yourself.
